Description
A true classic Gentleman’s motoryacht from a bygone era; Hyskeir was designed by John Bain. Using this Silver Leaf class design she was built at the Scottish boatyard of James A. Silver Ltd in 1937.
Hyskeir was named by her first owners after the Lighthouse which at the southern end of the Minch between the Outer Hebrides and mainland Scotland.
Shortly after her launch Hyskeir was to join, like many of her sisterships, Operation Dynamo which is better known to us all as Dunkirk in 1940. This saw around 850 privately owned boats and 20 warships flock to Dunkirk to help evacuate the 338,000 British and French soldiers. These famous boats have been named Dunkirk Little Ships. After the Second World War Hyskeir was purchased by the Royal Navy, at that time she was named Cairngorm and was a Clyde, Scotland patrol vessel.
Changing owners a handful of times, it was in the early 2000s that saw a large restoration take place and this was when her current twin 300hp Leyland Thornycorft engines were fitted.
Able to sleep six in three cabins, Hyskair offers the most splendid and original interiors, whilst keeping the important things updated like hot water!
Currently lying in France with a French 244-A.1 safety certificate which proves that even vessels of this age are able to be certified. Are you ready to become her next custodian and keep her history alive?
